Iris butterfly cards

These are simple and sweet cards made with Spellbinder dies in the shape of petals, tissue paper, and a few rhinestones.
I first cut my front mats then ran them through the die cutting machine to form the wings. Then I used the iris technic to fill in three of wings.  I used a sharpie marker to make the body of the butterfly.
Enjoy, Tammy M.

Chalkboard door hangers

These wonderful door hangers were made with Multi-Craft flowers, green chalkboard paint, and hanger blanks made from balsa wood, also Multi-Craft cork sheets.  And used here was a great double-sided paper.

I cut out a pattern from the door hanger on the double-sided paper and adhered it to one side of the hanger.
Then, I painted the other side with the chalkboard paint and let dry.
I adhered a piece of cork sheet to the paper side and decorated, then decorated the painted side as well.
These are fun to decorate your craft room with. Or just to leave yourself a note on.

Thanks Tammy M.

"Fall welcome baby card" by Tammy M.

Here is a wonderful baby card.
I used a double sided pattern paper in an olive green, a fall leaf pattern paper, a rust red card stock, and a light mustard yellow card stock. The theme of the baby shower is mossy oak or camouflage. I used the Cricut to cut out the letters in both the yellow and red.  I made the card a 5x7 and cut the mats 1/4" smaller each time. I used both sides of the double sided paper.
I like the simple but fun look. Try to mix and match your papers to make a great card.

Seahorsing around with Melt-it.

Hello, this is Tammy M.
And I want to show what you can do with the Melt-it from WOW! Embossing Powders and regular embossing powders.  I  mixed, melted, and poured to make this beautiful sea scape. The seahorse and button are from FabScraps. It's easy and fun.

Hoping everone is enjoying spring!

Hello, everyone!

Just wanted to check in, as it has been a while.

What has been going on at Roseburg Book?

Well, quite a lot.

Over the last few months, we have repainted the interior of the store and have moved things around. We now have easy to find departments. All you need to do is look at the painted pegboard to see what area you are in. For example: if the pegboard is copper, you are in the craft department. Which is where I like to hang out.
Speaking of the craft department, we have moved all the stamping supplies over to the scrapbooking area, so that it has become one. Making it easer to shop.

Please stop by and see our wonderful changes and check out our new things. I know you will enjoy.

See you soon, Tammy M.

Tribute to Vera

Vera A Wilson

Today we are Celebrating a very special person's life. As you all may know we recently lost our beloved Vera A Wilson. While it is never easy to lose those dearest to our hearts we feel deeply blessed to have had the honor and privilege of knowing such an incredible lady. Vera was loved and admired by many. Truly an icon in our community. She was active in the St Paul Lutheran Church, Red Cross, Business and Professional Woman's Association, Community Concert Association, Douglas County Historical Society and the Lutheran's Women's Missionary League.

She began working at Roseburg Book & Stationery in 1934 and remained working there for over 76 years when she retired. A dedicated employee she was for sure. She met many people while working here. Everyone adored her. To this day people still stop by the store to ask about Vera. How could you forget one of the sweetest most helpful ladies in Roseburg, you just don't. :)

I want to share with you some memories that were shared by her Nephew.

I REMEMBER.....when I was very young walking down Sheridan Street and seeing all of the ladies with their fancy clothes. I used to follow them because I thought that they were so pretty and I was intrigued by them. Some of them walked pets. I knew that they lived up above the stores on Sheridan Street. I had no idea then, what they were all about and the profession that those ladies were in. I was just an innocent kid.

I REMEMBER...when I was a young girl, my brother Bud, and I would sell apples at the train station. In those days, there was a morning train, an evening train, and a midnight train. We were supposed to stay on the sidewalk to sell the apples but my brother would always go onto the train, despite the rules, and sell all of his apples right away. Meanwhile, I stood out on the sidewalk with my basket full of apples, not making many sales. He used to make me so mad.

I REMEMBER...rollerskating a lot when I was a kid. I was a real daredevil. I used to hang onto the backs of cars and have them pull me down the street. I would do everything that I could think of on my skates. I remember telling my Mother about all of the things that I did. She would frown upon that but my Dad, he used to get a kick out of it and say, "that's hilarious". I wasn't supposed to, but I kept on being a daredevil on my skates.

I had the honor of working along side of Vera for a couple of years and I truly enjoyed her stories of her childhood and growing up in Roseburg. How she met her husband. That she was an excellent tennis player. How she reminisced about playing matches on the tennis court on Elk Island.

We would love for you to share your memories of Vera here on our page.

I will close this post with one of Vera's favorite poems.

I REMEMBER...the poem that I treasure the most. "I think that I shall never see, a poem as lovely as a tree. A tree that may in summer wear, a nest of Robins in her hair. A tree that looks to God all day and lifts her leafy arms to pray. Poems are made by fools like me but only God can make a tree."

"Thank you for all you do" card by Tammy M.

This wonderful card is made with gold pearlized cardstock as a base (6x6 card size).  Also used are silk textured papers in black and in a gold.  Using the Cricut machine and the Storytime cartridge , I cut out two Thank you (one on shadow and one normal) and glued them together so to raise and back the message.  Then I cut the black to 5x5 and the gold to 4x4. On the gold I used a black sharpie to write the rest of the message, then I used the Cuttlebug and the swirl embossing folder to dress up the gold paper.  I then glued down the black square to near the fold of base and the gold lower.  I then added a little bling to the side.  Hope you like this card.
